Taiwanese Tourist Faces Nightmare Stay in Singapore Hostel

Published:

What should have been a budget-friendly adventure in Singapore became a terrifying ordeal for a Taiwanese tourist, who was allegedly assaulted by a 41-year-old hostel worker at The Room@Bugis.

The accused, a Bangladeshi national, reportedly restricted the woman’s movements, forcibly kissed her, and groped her in the hostel room. The victim managed to escape and, in a stroke of luck, encountered a Mandarin-speaking female police officer who immediately assisted her.

Following her police report, the suspect was arrested and now faces charges of aggravated outrage of modesty, which could result in up to 10 years in prison and caning.

Determined to seek justice, the woman publicly shared her experience to warn others and vowed to return to Singapore to testify. Meanwhile, shaken hostel guests are reconsidering their travel plans, with some saying they now refuse to venture out alone.
