Anwar Calls for Cybersecurity Response After MAHB Hack, But Hackers Already Checked Into VIP Lounge

KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has ordered the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) and the National Security Council (NSC) to assist Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) after its systems suffered a cyberattack, likely orchestrated by individuals who mistook airport security for a suggestion rather than a rule.

The breach, which disrupted airport operations, was first noticed when baggage claim screens displayed motivational quotes instead of carousel numbers and flight gates were renamed after cryptocurrency exchanges.

“We take this matter seriously,” said Anwar. “We will ensure that cybersecurity measures are reinforced so that the next group of hackers will have to try slightly harder.”

Officials at MAHB assured the public that while some data might have been compromised, all duty-free chocolates remain untouched. However, sources say flight schedules have been replaced with an ‘exciting random boarding’ experience.

Meanwhile, cybersecurity experts have recommended the immediate adoption of robust passwords, such as something stronger than "1234" or "password." In response, MAHB has promised to hold a high-level meeting, right after they figure out how to recover their own login credentials.
